Saudi Arabia-based Qassim Cement Company has announced that it will set up a new cement plant within its factory in the kingdom’s Buraydah region.
Qassim said that it has entered into a preliminary agreement for the plant that will have a capacity of 300 tonnes per hour. A filing by the Saudi company on Tadawul, the kingdom’s bourse, stated that it has signed an EPC contract worth SR152 million (($41m) with a Chinese company, CDI, for the project.
The scope of work includes mechanical and electrical equipment services, in addition to design and supervision of civil works, installations and commissioning test. The project will be implemented within a period of 15 months, Qassim Cement’s filing stated.
