A new mobile, intelligent paint robot for the construction industry, billed as a world’s first, has made its debut at the Gitex Technology Week being held in Dubai and is being demonstrated at the event.

Named MYRO, the robot has been developed by the eponymous company MYRO International, which is a robotics organisation focused on solving “complex yet monotonous problems related to human productivity and workplace hazards”. The company offers distribution licences to regional partners to supply products and services to contractors, EPC companies and real estate developers.

A statement from the company said: “Transforming workmanship globally using technology, MYRO is a one-of-a-kind mobile intelligent paint robot designed to bridge the gap between automation and the construction industry. To showcase the mechanics of the robot live, MYRO International is hosting live demonstrations at the GITEX Technology Week in Dubai World Trade Centre from October 17-21 at stand number H7-2.”

The statement added that the aim of the company in developing the robot was to increase productivity, reduce construction timelines and provide consistent quality. MYRO can be controlled through any IOS and Android device and the manufacturer says it is highly cost-effective and safe and 10 times faster than manual labour with 98% precision, and is built for 24 hours of operation.

Srikar Reddy, chief product officer at private investment holding company, Mojay Global Holding Limited, of which MYRO International is a part, said: “Understanding that productivity is an important aspect in the construction industry, we developed MYRO in close collaboration with industry leaders to solve this issue. We are excited to launch MYRO to the global market from Dubai and are constantly working towards helping the construction industry become more automated.”

A smart device, MYRO works in three easy steps including creating floor plans, adding details and rules, and automated painting, said the manufacturer. It not only configures non-paintable areas on walls but also auto paints for autonomous operations and is very flexible to draw and edit floor plans.
